Powerball is one of America's two big Mega-Jackpot games, and used to hold the record for the biggest Jackpot payout of all time - US$365 Million in February 2006 ... until overtaken by Mega Millions' US$390 Million payout in 2007.
Every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time, five white balls (the main numbers) are drawn out of a drum with 59 balls and one red ball (the Powerball) out of a drum with 39 red balls. Players win the jackpot by matching all five white balls (in any order) PLUS the red Powerball.
The second prize (won by matching the five white balls) is $200,000 paid in cash - and any time you match the red PowerBall, you can win a prize as well.
